One of the profound influences on my life, particularly when I was growing up in Colorado Springs, was and continues to be, Herman Raymond. "Ray" as my brother Dayven and I still call him, gave us both the freedom to inquire about any subject. Art, Music, Literature, Religion, Philosophy, Sex, or whatever issue may have come up, were all freely discussed in our home. There were many times when we, along with my late mother Shirley, would burn the midnight oil; staying up often until two or three o'clock in the morning: conversing, sometimes debating, but more importantly learning about life. Against thebackdrop of our comfortable little Bohemian pad; the sonorous strains of Coltrane, Miles, Ella or sometimes the works of Ravel, Shostakovitch or Stravinsky would be heard. To be certain, it was an unusual childhood filled with a lot of excitement and challenging steps.

Listen to a brief excerpt from "An Elegy for Shirley" a piece I composed shortly after her passing.

I have only recently, through conversations with my beautiful wife Gabi, been able to appreciate the care with which the foundations of our young souls were so lovingly tended to. As a small tribute to those beautiful times, I offer to you a few examples of literally thousands of pieces of fine-art that Herman Raymond presented to the world over the past 50+ years.
